History

Greetings!  Welcome to my blog.

This site was originally dedicated to my journey in education.  I started this when I was the Distance Education Specialist for College and Career Readiness at Randolph Community College.  At RCC, I worked with Adult Secondary learners: students working to complete their Adult High School or High School Equivalency.

When I left RCC, I moved on to work in High School Equivalency Test Administration at Alamance Community College. While at ACC, I served as the Chief HSE Examiner & Assistant Coordinator of Adult High School. I left ACC to return to the classroom.

In 2019, I started working at Asheboro High School as an Instructional Assistant in the Long Term Intervention Program (LTIP). I loved being back with students, but I felt lead to pursue something a little more. In the fall of 2020, I became an Exceptional Children's Teacher at AHS. I love having the opportunity to work more one-on-one with students offering individualized instruction. I even like doing all the crazy paperwork!

My own educational life is varied. I attended High Point University where I completed a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History.  I also completed several graduate hours in history; but decided that I belonged in the classroom, so I left HPU and began at Lenoir-Rhyne University to improve my craft. I graduated with a Masters in Science in Online Teaching and Instructional Design in 2018.

I still seek to improve, so I am currently working on an Educational Doctorate (EdD) in Instructional Leadership. Additionally, I finish up undergraduate courses in education, because I am on Residency License as a NC teacher (formerly Lateral Entry).

I love to learn and share learning. My original purpose for this blog remains much the same: continue to reflect on my practice and my educational journey, both as student and teacher.
